High latency

I recently switch to the 500MB last week and started to notice on BO6 my latency is stilling between 20 and sometimes hitting 30+ Iv got a wire running from the hub straight into my PlayStation and still having the same problem. We was on BT and would get single digit latency from time to time but now ins always 20 and above how do I sort this problem out and who would I contact about it.

Any information would help and thank you

  • If you are on VM's HFC network then 20+ ms latency is normal. Which HUB do you have?

Possibly worth investigating the technology used by the ISP you are moving to in your area before assuming something that isn't stated.

    Faster isn't is always better.

  • Hello Brandon258,

Sorry to hear of the broadband connection issues and latency whilst gaming, we understand the concerns this can cause and appreciate you taking the time to raise this via the forums. Welcome to the community.

You have mentioned this specifically impacts Black Ops 6, does this happen on other online games you may play? Depending on the games servers, your connection and also others in your lobby performance can vary.

You can run a speed tests here which will show the speeds to the Hub, the device and also latency and ping. Also, if you have tested this via PlayStation, we'd recommend using a PC or laptop to test this as the results from the PlayStation, as stated during the test, may not be accurate.

As mentioned above, the latency you are getting is typical for the great majority of the VM network. You may get better if you are on one of the very new full fibre connections.

The BQM will give you a continuous visual display.
