1GB Broadband slow downloads on PS5

I've been on the 1gb broadband for about 4 months now and had the hub 5 since it came out whilst on the 250 package.

The only reason I upgraded to 1gb is because the guy on the phone had no interest in helping to get the monthly bill down and the total package feels like a complete rip off compared to what other customers get.

I typically get around 850 down and 10 up on my PS5 but annoyingly when I'm actually downloading something it is so inconsistent.

Downloading full games doesn't seem to be 4x as quick as my previous package and when it comes to game updates, it's never as quick and most of the time is at a snails pace.... (30 mins to do 16gb???)

HUB 5 in router mode and a cat 6a cable.

Tried a so called cat 8 but was no different.

I don't have any other devices that can get to the maximum speeds to test.

According to samknows, I'm getting 1145 down and 115 up so would be nice to get closer to those speeds and more consistent downloads on my ps5.

Maybe that would justify these prices.

Thanks

Your download speeds will be limited by the network suppling the patches etc.  It's nothing to do with the VM Hub.  I have 500Mb and with Xbox live the speeds can vary quite considerably.  There is nothing you can do about it really.

You may have a point but I wasn't necessarily blaming the hub, just stating what I had for any replies asking about my setup.

I was doing the cod updates yesterday whilst in a party chat with a few others on VM and BT and they didn't seem to have their downloads grind to a holt like mine did.

Back when I was on 250, my downloads were always going at a consistent speed, whether it was full games or patches but now there is no consistency and even slower than the 250 package at times and that's what's led me to here...

You need to get a PC/Laptop and run a wired test on the Hub.

Run the FULL tests on www.samknows.com/realspeed and post the results.  This will show the speeds VM are supplying to the Hub.
