Virginmedia.com email account access removed without warning

Hello,

Can someone please help me with reinstating my email account? My access has been removed and I wasn't given any warning that this was going to happen

Emails are being sent / received still but I'm unable to access them - I've had the account for 15 years

    MandyF25. What error message do you get when trying to access the emails via VM webmail?  mail.virginmedia.com

    Do you have a current VM broadband account to which the email address is attached?

  • Appreciate the prompt response. I can only access my VM account via the email app on my device and via Gmail through the browser

    This has been the case ever since I was migrated from VM to another provider a number of years ago. I was told my email account wouldn't be deleted at the time

    If I click on the app I'm getting a box pop up with Password Incorrect followed by Enter the password for the VM account and I'm unable to sign in

      It sounds as if you email address is in the early stages of being shut down by VM.  Despite what you were told this should have happened 90 days after you stopped your VM broadband account.

      You should take steps to make sure you have saved copies of important emails whilst you still have access via your email clients

        Thanks - yes that's what I feared..

        I didn't get an email warning me that this might happen though - is there any way of being able to access it temporarily in the circumstances? I would have changed email accounts and amended everything as necessary if I'd known it was going to be closed down - it's really inconvenient to lose access so abruptly

        Do you know how long it will take for the account to go as it still appears live to people currently emailing me? Assuming at that point I'll lose everything also?

      Hi MandyF25, thanks for your reply to Beth - she's out of the office now so I'm responding on her behalf today to go back publicly.

      Unfortunately, all affected accounts were sent emails approximately October 3rd and a reminder on October 18th warning customers of this possibility.

      From November, these accounts were in the process of being closed which is why you're no longer able to manage the mailbox effectively.

      We do sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we'd be unable to reactivate this email for you.

        Hi Tom,

        I've double checked and I didn't receive any emails at any point - to lose my email access so abruptly without any warning at all is really disappointing and inconvenient as I'm sure you can imagine

        Given the circumstances, can you please make an exception? If I was aware that the email account was going to close, I would have taken the necessary steps in order to update everything and everyone accordingly
