Virgin.net email closure but still a Virgin Media customer

Like many others here I've been using my virgin.net email since early 1997 and got notification that the email account will be closed in 30 days as they believe I don't have Virgin Media services. In fact I've been paying for Virgin Media broadband (formerly NTL Broadband) non-stop since the early 2000's.

I really do wish to save my virgin.net email address that I've had for nearly 28 years. Could my virgin.net email address be kept and if necessary linked in place of my ntlworld.com email address?

  • Hi GP501,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community.

We're very sorry to hear about the circumstances with your email address.

Sadly if that email address isn't attached to the account then we wouldn't be able to stop it from being closed.

@Martin_N.  Is that a sudden change of policy?

Previously, VM staff have offered to link the email to the broadband account.

  • I was hoping a member of VM staff would have offered to have a look at this rather than dismissing any option to move my virgin.net email address to my Virgin Media broadband account. Thankfully I moved most of my emails to another email address after the major virgin.net email loss of June 2023 which took them two and a half weeks to restore!

It would be nice to retain the email address for those services that don't handle email address changes properly!

Just to confirm GP501, you do have active services with us right now?

However if you do not have active services we wouldn't be able to assist with the email and it would be closed down as per out terms and conditions

Please do confirm this ASAP so we can assist.

        Hi Matthew_ML,

Yes, I've been paying monthly for Virgin Media (previously ntlworld) broadband continuously since 2001. At that point I stopped dialing into Virgin.net.

     Did you read the OP?

"In fact I've been paying for Virgin Media broadband (formerly NTL Broadband) non-stop since the early 2000's."

  • Hi Ilyas_Y,

Sorry, but I'm not seeing a private email to respond to.

  • I did that but the only message in the inbox is a Congratulations message from Wednesday, nothing newer unfortunately.

      Hi GP501,

I'm sorry to hear that you can't find the private message. I'm going to send you another one now.

To find your inbox, if you're using a PC or a laptop, it's a plain envelope found beside your profile image at the top. If you're using a mobile device, you will have to click/tap on the profile image in the top right corner and then select "Messages" from the drop down menu that it populates.

      Thanks,

  • Hi ravenstar68,

Thanks for the link but it took me to the same messages page I was on before - No new PMs since Wednesday, I'm on the "Private Messages : Inbox" page. Nothing new from Virgin Media Forum Team 😞
