Using new format password but not connecting to Outlook

I've gone through the process of generating a new password, in the new format, for use with e-mail clients eg Outlook etc.

However, when I use the new password I receive an authorisation error from the e-mail server, eg log in details not recognised etc.

No e-mails for over three weeks and getting decidedly frustrated.

Any help/ suggestions out there?

  • When I access the VMO2 app, I have no option to generate a password.

    Additionally, I have no recognition of my e-mail address within the manage products area ither. Is this the root of the problem? If so, how do i fix this?

    Thankfully, I can access some of my e-mail addresses via webmail, however, this is not an acceptable solution when mobile.

      Welcome to the Community, and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your online account. 

      Are you logged into the online account that your email address is associated with?

      To use a phone mail client to access your mail, you need to use the NTL email address as the username, and the four word generated app password in the form word-word-word-word

      It's not the same as the way you access Webmail.  It will not make any difference whether it's IMAP or POP  Most users however would use IMAP I guess.

      That's what I'm doing and still get an authorization error from the server, irrespective whther it's from my phone ort my laptop.

        Please remove the email and re add them on?

        What phone do you have?

        Is the laptop fully updated?

    Unfortunately, that doesn't help.

    I've navigated the joys of the new VM/O2 app and generated the new password required

    However, when i use this password in Outlook I can't retrieve any e-mails from the server. It informs me that there's an authorisation error and that the user name and password aren't recognised. All I've updated is the password!

      hrtcmk​ With Outlook you need to delete the account and then re-add it from scratch in order to get the new password to 'take'.  Have you tried this?  It was suggested earlier in the thread.
