Sudden loss of all emails

Last Sunday overnight all of my emails disappeared, Inbox, deleted, sent etc every box was empty.

I contacted customer support who quite frankly were no use at all. I am still a Virgin media customer so could not understand what had happened but was being told that most likely the fault was at my end.

Strange thing was that during Monday and without any action by me my Sent items and Deleted items suddenly reappeared but not the all important inbox items.

I have been trying since then to get some sense out of Virgin Media and have got to the point where I have lodged a complaint.

I have not yet heard anything from VM other than that they don't think they can restore my emails.

Hs anyone else had this issue?.

  • HI mandb

Thank you for your post. welcome to the Community Forums

I'm very sorry to hear that some of your emails have been deleted or have gone missing, that is very strange.

We're afraid that for any emails that have been deleted, it's not possible for us to retrieve these. I know that won't be the answer you're looking for and we wish there was more we could do to help with these issues, but it's not something we can do we're afraid. We are very sorry.

Have you noticed any other differences at all with your account or strange activity? Have you looked in all of your folders to see if the emails in question have been moved elsewhere?

We'd also recommend changing your password too incase this activity was a result of someone accessing the account. More information about managing your email account can be found here

I find it very odd that you say my Inbox can not be retrieved as within 24 hours both my Sent items and my deleted items reappeared.

I still as yet have not received any explanation for the loss of all my mail.

Hi mandb, thank you for your response.

I can see you've spoken to the team regarding this matter previously. Have you been contacted or received any voicemails, on either your landline or mobile number, since then?

        Regards,
        Daniel

Sorry for jumping onboard but I have a similar issue that the Virgin techie people are trying to resolve. All of 2024's emails have disappeared from my account. Why would they try this if it is not possible as you suggest?

There are 'archive' folders that I didn't set up so I assume Virgin does this automatically. There are thousands of emails in individually named year folders dating back to 2018 yet none for 2023 and only a handful in 2024 that I put there.

It's all a bit strange and disconcerting.
