reset a password on an ntlworld.com account

I want to reset a password on an ntlworld.com account so I can retrieve emails and contacts as I would like to migrate onto gmail.

I used to be able to do this  on my 'My Virgin Media' account - but I  understand this is no longer possible. I was told to get the virgin media app - I have it now but I don't see how you can change a password using that.

btw it has taken me weeks to even be able to log onto this forum to even ask the question! It kept refusing to accept my account was authorised and or said unexpected error etc.

So, all I need to do is to access these emails and then  i'll be off ntlworld as soon as possible. Can anyone help please?

Password resets are still done through the My Virgin Media account.  You need to make sure that you are logging into the correct one as each email address has its own My Virgin Media account. Go to My Virgin Media and enter the ntlworld email address concerned (or the third party email address for the account if you have previously set one up) and enter the current password.  Click on the 'account details' tile and then 'My Virgin Media account details'. You should then see the option to edit the password.

my log on for virgin media  is a gmail account, in fact.

In 'account settings' all I can do is change the my virgin media sign in password. There used to be a list of the ntlworld and virginmedia.com email accounts I had with options to edit each password. I don't get that anymore.

  • there is an option Manage other My Virgin Media accounts

that DOES show the accounts I have created (and the one I want to change the passord on) , BUT, it only has an option to delete them, not to change password

      Hi pakefoal

      Welcome to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear of you concerns with resetting your email password.

Just to double check, you're going to need to be on the specific account that the email is on. So if this is your primary account, you'll need to be on the primary account, and again, if it's on the secondary account, you'll need to be logged into this to be able to make amendments.

OK - just managed to log on to this forum after about 5 attempts.

The point is - the email address I log on with is a gmail account and not the email address of the account in question.

But, if logging on with that account provides restricted access - how come it is giving me the option of deleting the account? So I can delete the account but not change the password? I don't think what you are saying is correct. The obvious point is - if I don't know the password for this subsidiary account, then I can't log into it which is why I'm logging in via this new gmail account.

    Just browsing

I have 4 email addresses and I had to create new user names for all 4 using 4 different third party email addresses, you cannot use just the primary user name anymore. So all of your email addresses have to have their own My Virgin Media user name using a third party email and they must all be different, you will need to contact them to request them to change your usernames and they will send an email to that new third party email address for you to confirm, I hope this makes sense for you
