Pop3

Is a virgin media pop3 account compatible with New out look in windows 11?

I can receive emails, but sent emails get stuck in drafts folder. However I have another google IMAP account in New outlook that works ok.

I used new outlook in Windows 10 for both accounts and that worked ok

Any ideas?

Regards

John

  • Unfortunately changing the pop3 settings did not work, the same issue persisted.

I have since resolved the issue by changing from a pop3 account to IMAP and leaving the SMTP setting at 587. 465 gave me a similar scenario. So far my issue has been resolved thanks for your help. I'm not sure how I mark this query as complete

    Cheers

jbid9020  Virgin Media mail accounts should work with new outlook provided you use the correct server settings:

Each email app is slightly different, but to set them up you need the right settings and your Virgin Media email address and Virgin Media Mail app password.

    IMAP settings (recommended)

    • Host name: imap.virginmedia.com
    • Username: your Virgin Media email address
    • Password: your Virgin Media email app password
    • Advanced settings SSL encryption: enabled
    • Port: 993 (this may be automatically chosen by selecting SSL encryption)

    POP3 settings

    • Host name: pop3.virginmedia.com
    • Username: your Virgin Media email address
    • Password: your Virgin Media email app password
    • Advanced settings SSL encryption: enabled
    • Port: 995 (this may be automatically chosen by selecting SSL encryption)

    SMTP settings

    • Host name: smtp.virginmedia.com
    • Username: your full Virgin Media email address
    • Password: your Virgin Media email app password
    • SSL encryption: enabled
    • Port: 465 (this might not be selected automating by enabling SSL, so please check)
    • Authentication: Password

Remember to save your settings if the apps ask you to.

You may need to generate a new email app password.

To create an email app password or update an existing one you need to follow these steps:

Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
        Select Account Settings
        Select Identity & Security Settings
        Select Manage your products
        Select Manage email app password
Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'

Make a note of the generated password.  This is what you use in the mail apps along with the vm email address as the username.
