Outlook not connecting to virginmedia.com email

I have 3 windows 11 machines.  All running the new version of MS outlook.  For whatever reason one stopped updating with new emails.  In bug fixing I decided to delete and and re-enter account.   Mail remained working on on other machines but I couldn't get password accepted on new account.  Virgin website said "new app password required for 3rd party mail applications".   I generated one but it didn't work when input. All it did was break the account on other machines. Strangely enough new password was accepted for outlook on my android mobile phone and also worked when I installed a new 3rd party email client on my windows machine, so not a password entry or configuration error.  

Troubleshooting details on outlook as follows:

Anybody any ideas?

    Hi Blunderman, I had the same issue on 1 machine using w11 couple of days ago. I cleared my cache & uninstalled the Outlook app & reinstalled eventually it started taking the new VM generated password. It stopped for a day & has since starting working with no hiccups at the moment. A word of warning MS has a site offering Classic Outlook, but what you get instead is MS365+Office 5 day free trail. Don't install because when you uninstall if you already have the Office programs it removes them.

    May have some insight to problem that I and others are having with outlook:  there may be a privacy/ consent issue here that is being defectively dealt with.  When attempting to "repair" by renewing my virginmedia account - an outlook  page comes up on my windows machine saying emails will be synced to the Microsoft Cloud (even if not an MS hosted account!).  There is also some text about contacts and events in the page that might imply contact lists and calendar events may be being hoovered up as well (if not now then possibly in the future).  You press button to "continue" when the process (after a time)  reports a failure.   If I'm correct, no surprise if VM servers are having indigestion servicing such man-in-the-middle requests.   

    System possibly works in android because microsoft have not, so far, been able to "upgrade the experience" there.

      Can you confirm what windows you are operating from is it 11? 

      How long has it been doing this?

      Does it work on any other devices?

        I'm using windows 11 Pro, latest feature update on 1 device.  Windows 11 home 23H2 fully patched on another and Windows 11 home latest feature update on the third.  None now work with new outlook.  Can gain access through chrome browser and also through Mozilla thunderbird client.  Have working outlook clients on android mobile phone (pixel 9a) and samsung tablet (tab A9+).  Two of the 3 windows machines only broke when I changed (app) password as per virginmedia instruction.  Before then I'd been working for years on  old style password.  

        Am using new outlook on windows machines and have been for months.  

        Problem started Thursday pm where new emails were not being received - which seems to be a common theme on forum.
