NTL stopped overnight

2 weeks ago my ntlworld virgin email stopped, still not working even though I have had 3 tickets raised and promises broken several times.    This happened 1 year ago and I was told that they will in the future be stopping the ntl and blue yonder accounts.  I set up another email recovery like they asked, which I have used to register here.  No prior warning just closed it down, can't log on or register.  I mover house 6 months ago and the change over was all ok until now.

Is there any way of getting to my ntl email account even temporary,  I have hospital medical business and insurance details in files on there.  Tec support have fobbed me off every time I go on, except for one guy Alosyom who explained and really tried to help.  I am at my wits end with limited IT knowledge.  What email provider would you recommend going forward, I have a gmail recovery account.  Thank you.

" I mover house 6 months ago and the change over was all ok until now."

So, just to clarify, are you still a Virgin Media broadband customer at your new address?

" Is there any way of getting to my ntl email account even temporary,"

If you are still a paying VM customer then it may be possibe. The Forum Team (VM staff) are best placed to help you. One of the team will contact you via this post either today or tomorrow.

If you are no longer a paying customer and you left VM more that 90 days ago then VM staff will be unable to help you, Sorry about that.

Virgin Media stopped issuing new email accounts over 3 years ago and they are now actively closing down VM email accounts that are no longer linked to a live VM paid for service (such as broadband). However, they have not made any official statement as to their plans for the future of their email service so whoever told you that was just giving their opinion rather than the facts.

"I set up another email recovery like they asked, ....... have a gmail recovery account. "

Depending on how that was set up, it may be that Gmail account has become the new username for your VM account. Have you tried signing into your VM email account by entering that Gmail address as the username (rather than your Ntl address) and then  your VM/Ntl password as the password?   https://www.virginmedia.com/myvmo2

If you already have a Gmail account you might as well use that but there are many others, see here:  https://the-tech-trend.com/gadgets/best-email-providers/ and here https://www.techradar.com/best/best-free-email-services-for-year   for some ideas.

permit  In order to keep the email address you would have needed to specifically ask for a 'move and transfer' at the time of moving house.  Simply cancelling the old account and then starting a new one at the new house would not move the email address across.

  • didn't do a move and transfer, just cancelled the old and started a new account, everything has worked ok for 5 months.
