Need to know my SMTP password and SMTP settings for Mozilla

Please will someone help..

Have had a ntlworld email account for many years. Since changes were introduced forcing the use of another email account) I am able to receive emails again, but still unable to send any (unless using my mobile) due to authentication errors. 

Oddly, on occasion after trying various changes, I've occasionly briefly been able to send emails, but after leaving the application or having a Windows Upgrade, when I next go to send one the error is back again.

I need to clarify the correct SMTP settings to input on Mozilla Thunderbird:

 1. Where/how to obtain my current 'SMTP password', (can receive emails but not send).

 2. Which email address to use for 'SMTP Account Name' (currently my @googlemail.com address,

3. Which to use as my 'SMTP Email Address' (currently using my NTLworld.com address),

4. What to use as my 'Outgoing Server SMTP' details (currently set to my email '@googlemail.com - SMTP ntlworld.com.

Been trying to get this sorted for ages, so I'll really appreciate any help that can be given as to get things working again.Many thanks in advance.

    Given the observed SMTP behaviour consider trying the following when the issue next occurs:

    • Press Ctrl + Shift + J to open Error Console window
    • Review latest log entries for a VM error code, as highlighted in example below; it may help to enter following in Filter Output field: mailnews.smtp

    What is the last VM error code reported?

      Thank you, although I did not pay enough attention to notice a code, just the error message. Thank you for your input, I will hang on to it in case it happens again and will note the code down.

      Currently (after above solution) everything seems to be working, just hoping it doesn't stop again when I get the next windows update!

    • Your SMTP password is the same as the one you use when receiving emails in Thunderbird.
    • Use whatever name you like as the SMTP Account name.
    • The SMTP email address is the actual ntlworld.com email address that you are trying to send from

    • SMTP settings

      • Host name: smtp.virginmedia.com
      • Username: your full Virgin Media email address
      • Password: your Virgin Media email app password
      • SSL encryption: Enabled
      • Port: 465 (this might not be selected automating by enabling SSL, so please check)
      • Authentication: Password

      Remember to save your settings if the apps ask you to.
