need to delete old ntl world email

As I used to be a virgin media customer I have an old ntlworld email address which appears to have been hacked. I keep receiving emails from virgin media telling me that 1000's of spam emails have been sent from my account and that I should install an antivirus which they will choose for me! I'd like this email closed as I no longer use it but am not sure how to proceed

    Thanks for your post, welcome to the Community Forums. 

    We're sorry to hear that your email account may have been hacked. We can certainly get this account deleted for you.

    I've sent you a private message so I can take the details from you, however in the meantime we would advise to run malware scans on all of your devices but not from the onces in the emails you've been saying, as these will most likely be phishing scams. You can take a look here for more information about what do to if your account has been hacked in the meantime.
