My ntlworld email has been hacked

My ntlworld email has been hacked. Not only am I getting daily ransomware requests but the hackers are using my email to attempt to access my account or set up new accounts in LinkedIn, Uber etc. Yesterday they started using it to send emails to people for purposes unknown.

I have called Virgin Media and asked for this account to be shut down but have been told that I don't have an account with them and they can't do anything.

I see from other messages on this forum that it may be possible to get this account shut down by posting on here, so here's hoping.
