Lost legacy email

I stopped using my virgin.com email in 2012, but during 2010/2011 I made a substantial bitcoin purchase which was saved to my Google device using my email address.

Having traced which mail has the drive with my wallet in it. Google are sending me a verification code to.my virginmedia.com account.

On discussion with VM they have advised that they cannot reinstate my email address either physically or virtually and therefore I.have lost my gate way to my drive account and wallet.

Had anyone ever been in same spot as me and recovered their email...?

Who provides the virginmedia.com email service for those email addresses that are still on operation??

Appreciate any insight.

The virginmedia.com domain is owned by Liberty Global and it is hosted in the Netherlands, I think.

The usual response when customers on here request access to a recently-deleted mailbox is a flat 'no' from VM.

A VM person should reply here to your topic within a few days.

"I stopped using my virgin.com email in 2012"  the key question is whether you remained, and still are, a paying VM customer.

If you are then there is the very  slightest glimmer of hope. However, if you are no longer a paying Virgin Media customer then experience shows that there is no chance of VM being able to reinstate access to that email account. Once you close a VM broadband account you only have 90 days grace to access any linked email account.

The other thing to consider is whether the VM broadband account that was used to created this  email account was in someone else's name, another family member for example.  If that was the case you have the added complication that VM are legally obliged to only deal with the original VM broadband account holder not with you as a secondary email user.

To be a bit more positive, one other option, if you have not already done so,would be to investigate whether you have that email password saved somewhere.

Perhaps among the saved passwords of the browser that you were using to access that email account in 2012 or in the settings of the email app that you used to access that email account for example. They are both long shots but worth checking out.

      Thank you for the reply.

Issue I have is that's VM stopped the creation of VirginMedia.com emails... as mine elapsed in 2015, and I can confirm ownership of it by old mobile no. And house address, they say they cannot create it.

As an I.T. engineer for 35 years, I know that's crap, and that you can do anything in I.T.

A virtual or physical mailbox can surely be created by the administrators of the current @viginmedia.com accounts still in existence. Is now at deadlock awaiting a letter to raise the case with the ombudsman. Failing this then will be hiring a legal firm with power of attorney to rectify this.

Without doubt, the owners of the virginmedia.com domain could recreate your old @virginmedia.com email account if they wished. It would be a simple matter to do, although it would not contain any of the previous messages.

But why do you think you could require them to do so if they don't want to? What contract do you have that you could enforce?
