Linked VM and O2

During one attempt to log in to email the system went to a page to link VM and O2  accounts and the only way out was to agree taking the NO option simply resulted in a return to the choice page.

Having completed this link received an email showing the following:

"You've linked a Virgin Media account to your Virgin Media O2 ID.

Sign in to manage the accounts on your ID here.  "

But the link first shows and insecure page and then is inoperative.

Can Virgin please advise fix.

New VMO2 login procedures in place from today.  It’s having teething problems shall we say?  Should be sorted soon …

Do I dare continue with this process or will it destroy my email access forever?

For a communications/media company, the lack of communication about planned changes is...!

I had to jump through all sorts of hoops to sign - new password, provide 2nd email accounts for 2 tier authorisation. Finally got in. But as per above link to manage accounts - it doesn't work. After years being with VM   I'm not surprised.

    1. I note that  !his "should be sorted soon."

Is anything actually being done and, if so what is that, and what is the expected outcome?

Supplementary question is, how long do we have to wait.

As an aside, I didn't want, nor can I find a use for, anything to do with O2. It will be no loss to me if it disappears into the blue yonder.

      Hi EddyFiss,

Thanks for posting and sorry to see you're experiencing issues with linking accounts.

Can you please elaborate on the exact issue you're having so we can try our best to help.

  • OK, Alex. Thank you for the offer, but you might consider I'm being a wimp or wasting your time.,

It was convoluted with codes and confirmations and backup codes, but really it was straighforward with no snags. I ended up setting up a passkey as I've done for other websites. This time to get to my email account.

Call it lazy, if you like, but I did not believe there was a proper need for me to do it again to log into my VM account. I felt that, surely, one passkey to my email must allow me to log in to my VM account without going through the whole process again, only to end up with same passkey - they are device specific, so it's like shouting at the deaf - pointless.

However, if that's how you want to play the game, so be it. There doesn't seem to be much you can do about it except to put the skids under whoever is about to change this.

BTW, it is very difficult to offend me, so you can be as hard on me as you like - I won't mind, 'cos I've received  more insults in my job than you can count. Feel free :-)

    Thanks for offering to help.

    Cheers :-)
