Issues accessing secondary blueyonder account

I'm aware there have been issues with virgin systems including email today and wondering if anyone else has the same issue as me and knows of a resolution. I have a couple of blueyonder email addresses, a primary and secondary one. The one listed as a secondary one is the one I actually use more on a day to day basis. Today ive gone through various rigmarole of setting up additional 2 factor identification to both accounts and whilst I can technically 'login' to both accounts, ive only been able to link my virgin media account to the primary virginmedia 02 ID. The other one is also asking for an account name, number, area code  etc to link to but of course as its a secondary one it won't allow me to use the same details. How do I overcome this issue?

Elliebluey You can't link two email addresses to the primary VMO2 ID.  The secondary email will have it's own VMO2 iD which it sounds as if you have already created as you say you can log into both addresses.

Yes, ive managed to set two VMO2 IDs. The issue is that when I log into the second one all I can see is a message telling me that I need to link the id to a virgin media account and its asking for account number, area code etc but of course ive already used that on the first VMO2 ID and its suggesting I transfer the virgin media account to the second VMO2 ID. I have no idea how I can get past this issue and view my secondary email account.

I'm not sure how you have managed to end up in that situation. So far I have only gone through the new sign in process for one of my secondary accounts.  I went to sign in as usual with the secondary email address and was then asked to enter a verification email address together with the other security data for the VMO2 ID.  At no point did I have to enter any VM account details.  That was only needed for the primary account.

  • I have exactly the same issue. I reported it and was told it is a known issue and would be fixed this week. I belive that about as much as the statement I had from them 2 weeks that "all my issues were resolved" when we had other login issues.

My hunch on this is that they are putting in a new "unified" O2 and VM system and no-one told the developers to test the case when secondary account holders login. They just assumed everyone is a primary account holder. Hence they neglected to test the logon case for secondary accounts. Any rudimentary testing would have revealed this issue so their test cases must be pants.

NWoodcock I don't think that is the case.  I have several secondary accounts and have successfully set VMO2 Id's for all of them and can access emails on each of them.

The problems seem to be with secondary accounts that had somehow become separated from the primary account and are in a type of limbo state.

        On our wavelength

I sorted out a secondary email yesterday, following the guidance from @Graham_A and during the process I chose to skip the options given to link to a VM account and/or an O2 account. I was a bit nervous doing so as I thought there might be a fair risk of my secondary email account ending-up disconnected/disassociated from any paid VM cable broadband service - and therefore liable to potential difficulties in the future.

I was significantly relived to see that when I log in to my secondary email and switch to the "My Account" dashboard I can see status and other information that can only come from my primary VM cable broadband/telephone account. Phew!

The secondary login account view is (quite reasonably) restricted in functionality compared to the primary but it gives me some confidence that it is linked to a primary account.

      Tuning in

I have the same issue - have managed to create a VirginMedia O2 ID for my primary email but the second one that I have used for years which used to have it's own separate Virgin Media account, seems to be not available to me on web mail. I can't link it to the Virgin Media O2 ID without the ID then changing the access email. And, if I try to set up a new O2 ID for the secondary email address I can't as it wants account number, area code etc and then tries to link that all to the main ID. They'd better get a fix soon!
