Iphone Wireless Email Problems

Update my pc to windows 11 and lost ability to see emails.  So went through the new instructions fir VM/O2 ID,   secondary email and eventually figured out how to create an email APP password.....  what a run around but eventually got email working on PC.....

Problem is,  I have now lost ability to get emails on my iPhone which did work beforehand....   Trued deleting account on iphone and reinstalling but could never get connection.....  eventually tried turning wireless off and hey presto, now working......BUT AS SOON AS HE TURN WIRELESS BACK ON, IT STOPS AGAIN, SAYING NTLWORLD IMAP SERVER NIT RESPONDING.

Surely, my settings are all OK, as it works when not connected to wireless,  eaving me to believe maybe the route was blocking that port.    But if that was the case, why is PC working OK.....

I am at a loss of what to try next.........any advice.....

From a previous post, just check your IMAP is correct.

    IMAP settings (recommended)

    • Host name: imap.virginmedia.com
    • Username: your full Virgin Media email address (ntlworld.com in your case)
    • Password: your Virgin Media email app password
    • Advanced settings SSL encryption: Enabled
    • Port: 993 (this may be automatically chosen by selecting SSL encryption)

    SMTP settings

    • Host name: smtp.virginmedia.com
    • Username: your full Virgin Media email address (ntlworld.com in your case)
    • Password: your Virgin Media email app password
    • SSL encryption: Enabled
    • Port: 465 (this might not be selected automating by enabling SSL, so please check)
    • Authentication: Password

  • Hi gabell

    Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community. Apologies for any email issues on the iPhone. How to solve is below;

Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
    Select Account Settings
    Select Identity & Security Settings
    Select Manage your products
    Select Manage email app password
Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'
Make a note of the generated password. This is what you use in the mail apps along with the Virgin Media email address as the username.
