IP Blacklisted

I am trying to post on an existing phpBB forum.  I am actually the administrator of the forum, but I am getting this

"Your IP xx.xxx.xx.x has been blocked because it is blacklisted. For details please see http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=xx.xxx.xx.x."

I have x'd out the atuall IP, but it is my Virgin Media IP.   Reading the pages at the link it seems to relate to SMTP mail servers, but I'm not sending an email, and my email client is working fine .

That sounds as if it is the Spamhaus PBL (Policy Block List). All VM domestic broadband IP addresses are (or should be) on that blocklist.  It does not mean that the IP address has been identified as a source of spam but that it should not be connecting directly with an internet mail server.  Using email clients /apps such as Outlook or a webmail service are fine.

Looking specifically at the issue with your phpBB forum:

If it is the PBL blocklist that is being identified then it might be worth your while reading this advice from Spamhaus.  It is from 2022 but it deals specifically with what, at that time at any rate, was obviously a known issue with phpBB forum software and the PBL blocklist.

You'll see it offers some solutions to the problem you are encountering.

Thanks for that info.  Unticking the IP check worked.

My phpBB is way out of date, so I'll update it and see if that is a permanent fix
