I am a secondary account holder who has had no access to emails for 3 weeks

This is a second go at posting as my first didn't work.

My husband is the primary account holder after becoming a VM customer in 2011. I am the secondary account. We have both had @virginmedia.com email addresses since joining.

3 weeks ago I suddenly received the message FORBIDDEN whilst trying to access my emails. I immediately rang and reported this, was given a ticket number and told many customers were experiencing this problem which would be resolved within 10 days. I then went on holiday to an area where internet access was not always available, but when it was still received the FORBIDDEN message.

I rang for help this morning, was given another ticket number with the suggestion I was now back of the queue and someone would get in touch. No-one has - not since the end of July.

Like so many email is my primary source of contacting others and I don't have secondary access to email addresses. I have a small business too and am at risk of losing income.

Can someone please help.

  • Ditto - it's been 3 weeks now and as a small business I am losing customers and contacts. Ofcom and Moneybox and a few other media outlets are springing to mind. And compensation from VM by way of reduced bill.

I hope you can get help in the other thread, but in any case you really need to start moving your contacts across to a more reliable email provider.

VM have never suggested that their email is suitable for business use, and they don't keep backups in case of failure. They stopped issuing new email addresses some years ago, and there is no guarantee that existing ones will continue indefinitely. Also you will lose the email if you change broadband supplier.

Would do if I could, but I can't access my email address book either.

Surely you keep records of your business contacts ?  Online email address books are not meant to be used as the only record. Especially not VM's unreliable email.

  • I am in exactly the same situation and worried that by pressing SUBMIT I will get access to all my emails but lose my husband's (who is currently the Primary email).

Could someone please advise if they have pressed submit and retained/regained access to all primary and secondary email addresses.

Had a long chat yesterday with a gentleman on this site called Paul. He was non the wiser, could see the exact moment I had been locked out and has escalated to a more knowledgeable engineer.
