How to close a hacked NTL World email account

I need help to delete an old ntlworld email account that has been hacked and I can no longer get into. This has caused security issues for me which I have resolved however the account has been breached and needs to be shut down. It is no longer attached to live virgin media account. A resolution to this issue would be appreciated.
