Help - Email Account Cancellation

Hi All. I've had my virgin.net email since 1996 and have used Virgin services in the past. I have tried to buy Virgin broadband and TV many times over the years but they do not offer their services in my location in Southport, so I can't be a customer even though i would like to be one. Forum Team - surely there is a way of being able to keep my virgin.net email alive? Tell me what service I can buy and I'll buy it. Can I pay for the email service? Or set up a dummy broadband account to like the email to?

If you donโ€™t have an active broadband service with us, then we're very sorry, we can no longer support your e-mail, as per our Terms & Conditions. You need to seek an alternative e-mail provider.

New e-mail accounts can be set up in minutes, with providers such as Gmail, Outlook or iCloud. We highly recommend you forward any important e-mails from your Virgin account to your new inbox.

Thank you for your reply. I understand what you are saying, I would like to have Virgin broadband, I have tried to buy it many times over the years, but Virgin does not provide the service in my area. Can a broadband account be set up for me so I can keep my email. Virgin doesn't have to provide the broadband service, just open an account and I'll pay for the service just to keep my virgin.net email?

        Very Insightful Person

Hi, what you are asking for is simply not possible.  I doubt Virgin Media's systems would allow them to create a broadband account in areas where no cabled network exists.  Even if it did, the whole legality of essentially asking for someone to pay for a service they cannot provide would be really questionable, even if the person such as yourself stated they were willing.  This is one of the reasons why there has been a plethora of advice on the web in the past not to rely on ISP provided email addresses as your main email :(.

If you're not in a cabled area, then your email really should have been deleted nearly a decade ago.  Virgin Media have long had periodic sweeps of email accounts such as yours.  I would really start moving accounts over to a dedicated email provider ASAP.
