FRUSTRATING NTL email address

My very old ntlworld email address is being bombarded with dangerous spam, I have requested virgin to kill the a/c several times - no response or change. I am loath to simply delete the a/c on my PC in case this still leaves residual issues - any suggestions as to how I kill this a/c? I would like to remove all historical users but suspect this may beyond the gift of man.
