Email security

My ntl world email has been hacked and someone is using it to send emails and blackmail me, all I want to do is change the password so they can no longer access it however it is impossible to do via virgin media, they clearly don’t take security seriously.

ive tried calling but that’s a waste of time as you can never speak to anyone.

can anyone advise how to simply change the email password?

Sign into the VMO2ID account for the email concerned and go to identify & security, select security settings, password and enter the new password.  Then go back to Identify & Security and select Manage your products and click on Manage email app password and generate a new app password.

This form of threatening communication is a common tactic used by miscreants to extort victims. To improve the likelihood of success the miscreant will deploy a psychological ruse by including information that they have obtained elsewhere to imply truth and/or risk from other things mentioned in the communication. For example, the miscreant may quote an old or current password that the victim uses or used to use.
