Email problems

I have been unable to access my email accounts this morning, and I am using my regular laptop.  I keep getting this message:

Ooops – you can’t do that right now

We couldn’t sign you in just now. Don’t worry — it’s just a quick pause to help keep your account safe.

Try this:

  • Use a device you’ve signed in on before
    • Try again from somewhere familiar
    • If you’re on a VPN, switch it off and have another go

Still stuck? If this keeps happening, get in touch with us and we’ll help sort

  • I am still having problems in accessing my email accounts through the website.  The problem has been intermittent after the first five days of the issue.  I got the Oops message early this morning, but seem to be in this afternoon.

The advise to use a familiar machine is ridiculous - I only have one laptop at home.

I have managed to open one account in Brave.  I've opened a proton account and a yahoo account for some things.  Those free accounts only have limited storage, so I may end up with multiple accounts.

All I can say is that I have not had the "Ooops you cannot do that" error  since deleting all VM cookies from my browser a couple of days ago (as I posted here on 21st June).

It's true that Proton mail only has 1 GB of data but to be fair it's real attribute is its security and privacy and a lot of people value that much more than additional data storage.

However, as far as I am aware, the free version of Yahoo email still comes with 1 TB (1000 GB) of storage.     In contrast VM email accounts only have 25 GB.

Having said that Yahoo has its faults but a lack of storage space is not one of them.

Do be careful though, all email accounts are just communication tools not data storage services. Emails can get deleted all too easily so which ever email service you use you must back up your emails and attachments outside the email service.  At the very least back up the important communications and attachments.

+1    The more people realise this the better.  I can't stress how right this statement is.

Have you got a phone this could be tested on?

Are you allowing pops ups at all?

  • I receive  the same Oops error message when I try to login into my VM account on my Chromebook. Initially my login was a ntlworld.com email.

I also phoned VM  over a week ago about this error and was asked to provide a new password which they would add. I wasn't comfortable with this but went along with it and gave a new password.

Later that day I managed to access my VM  account using my iphone, change the password and my login to a different email address.

When I phoned apparently they also raised a ticket but I've heard nothing!

Currently I still can't log into my VM account from my Chromebook.
I can login from my works windows laptop using my new email address and password and access my ntlworld.com email from the dashboard.
I can also login to my VM account with new email account and password on my iPhone but can;t access my ntlworld.com inbox.

Using my work laptop or iphone is not a solution for me. I need to be able to access my VM account from my Chromebook.

I've deleted all cookies, site settings, turned off the chrome extensions , check Chromebook is updated etc and still no luck.

This is so annoying to say the least, I wish VM would sort this out.

      Hi PetalLeaf,

Thanks for posting and welcome to our community 😊

Sorry to hear you've been having some issues with accessing your emails.

When using your Chromebook, are you trying to accessing your email using an email client such as Outlook? Or directly via the Virgin Media website?

        Hi Alex_RM,

It's not just accessing emails, I can even login to my VM account.

I am trying to access via the VM website.

I go to the website - select sign into my virgin media account - this then displays the following screen.

I input my email address and then I am presented with this screen.

If I leave it a few seconds to a minute  it then goes to this screen

In addition to all the things I have tried in my initial post I have also tried to access when at families and using their internet connection ! Still no luck.

        It's very inconvenient and annoying.
