Email problems

I have been unable to access my email accounts this morning, and I am using my regular laptop.  I keep getting this message:

Ooops – you can’t do that right now

We couldn’t sign you in just now. Don’t worry — it’s just a quick pause to help keep your account safe.

Try this:

  • Use a device you’ve signed in on before
    • Try again from somewhere familiar
    • If you’re on a VPN, switch it off and have another go

  • Yes there's something odd going on. From yesterday lunchtime I can't log into my secondary @virginmedia.com account from my phone - can't sign in. Yet it's still working on my laptop at the moment.

    JUST A QUICK PAUSE???????????????????????

    It's now been 3weeks. Time to move elsewhere. This proves Virgin have not got a clue what they're dealing with

      After an unsuccessful long phone call Virgin could not solve and finally offered to arrange some 'expert' to take control of my computer for £9 a month.

      Virgin created this message and it is stuck on my laptop AFTER I changed my ntlworld address and password. UNBELIEVABLE.

  • I've had exactly the same problem for four days - but only on one PC (unfortunately, it's my main work PC).

    I can't even log into Virgin Media (let alone my email) without getting this message.

    I can access my email via my phone, iPad and laptop so it's one specific device that's the problem.

    I'm have an NTLWORLD email address but use a googlemail address as a login.

    To try to fix it I've:

    Deleted all of my cache and cookies for the past 2 weeks.

    I've changed my password 5 times over 4 days.

    I've tried using Chrome and Edge in Incognito and Private and Admin modes

    Turned off my VPN/Malware software.

    I installed a fresh version of Firefox without transferring any sites of settings (so I don't think it's a cookie of cache issue) - but somehow VM has just blocked this one device.

    I'm relieved that I can still access my email - but it's a pain moving files around via a USB stick - please help ASAP, thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

      Sorry to hear of the email access issues via your works PC, we appreciate you raising this via the forums and providing the steps taken already to try to get this resolved.

       

      It seems strange this is only impacting the one device, from what you have advised you have no issues accessing this address via multiple other devices. Just to confirm, you were able to access this mailbox on that device previously?

      Have any changes or updates been ran at the time the issues started?

        Also, just to add (so that you have as much information as possible) - when I try to login in, I get as far as the 'Select email address' screen, but as soon as I select the email address (I use a gmail address as my NTLWord wouldn't work to log into VM a couple of years ago) - that's when I get the error. It doesn't get as far as asking for my password.

        I'm afraid not - nothing yet.

        But I'll post it here if I find a solution.

  • This whole situation is bizarre.  I had full access yesterday morning, now I am getting the same message.

    Fortunately I was able to move my Vinted, EBay and PayPal accounts to another email provider.

    Spoke to Virgin about it.

    Apparently ntlworld emails will not work unless we make log in through another email.

      It's a virgin media account, as well as an old ntlworld account.  It's so annoying, there's emails in there that I need.
