Spoke to Virgin about it.
Apparently ntlworld emails will not work unless we make log in through another email.

It's a virgin media account, as well as an old ntlworld account. It's so annoying, there's emails in there that I need.
Something wider going on . I'm a current VM subscriber & mines been deleted too
If the accounts were going to be deleted then we should have been informed, in order to make alternative arrangements.

Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community. If the emails are listed on an active account, then unless you've deleted them, they will not be deleted.

This whole situation is bizarre. I had full access yesterday morning, now I am getting the same message.
Fortunately I was able to move my Vinted, EBay and PayPal accounts to another email provider.
I've had exactly the same problem for four days - but only on one PC (unfortunately, it's my main work PC).
I can't even log into Virgin Media (let alone my email) without getting this message.

I can access my email via my phone, iPad and laptop so it's one specific device that's the problem.
I'm have an NTLWORLD email address but use a googlemail address as a login.
To try to fix it I've:
Deleted all of my cache and cookies for the past 2 weeks.
I've changed my password 5 times over 4 days.
I've tried using Chrome and Edge in Incognito and Private and Admin modes
Turned off my VPN/Malware software.
I installed a fresh version of Firefox without transferring any sites of settings (so I don't think it's a cookie of cache issue) - but somehow VM has just blocked this one device.
I'm relieved that I can still access my email - but it's a pain moving files around via a USB stick - please help ASAP, thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Have you had any joy sorting this yet?
I'm afraid not - nothing yet.
But I'll post it here if I find a solution.

It seems strange this is only impacting the one device, from what you have advised you have no issues accessing this address via multiple other devices. Just to confirm, you were able to access this mailbox on that device previously?
Have any changes or updates been ran at the time the issues started?
Hi, thanks for your response. The PC that's still not working (whereas everything else is) has been fine for years. It's Window 11 and a very high-spec'd machine used for VFX and editing. The weird thing is that I was logged in - the email refreshed and then gave me the error, so in that hour nothing had changed software or hardware-wise. Not only do I get the error with web-mail, but I can't even log in to Virgin Media. I run some anti-malware, but no VPN and I turned this off for a while, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've reset my password a few times, rebooted my VM Hub, my network switch, PC (numerous times). But this one PC seems to be 'blackballed' - which is really annoying as it's my main workstation. Any ideas on what else I can try? I'm reasonably technical so happy to mess with IP addresses etc. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

After an unsuccessful long phone call Virgin could not solve and finally offered to arrange some 'expert' to take control of my computer for £9 a month.
Virgin created this message and it is stuck on my laptop AFTER I changed my ntlworld address and password. UNBELIEVABLE.

Yes there's something odd going on. From yesterday lunchtime I can't log into my secondary @virginmedia.com account from my phone - can't sign in. Yet it's still working on my laptop at the moment.
I have been getting this exact problem for the last week.
When using my laptop I can't sign-in to Virginmedia or VM email on my primary account or any of the secondary ones - I get the 'Ooops - you can't do that' error.
However, I can access all the mailboxes using an Gmail on an iphone and ipad, and can successfully log-in using my wife's Macbook.
The VM login appears to be blocking all attempts to sign-in irrespective of the user id. This suggests it is blocking based on the device mac address.
Forgot to add that I had a long on-line 'Chat' with VM - when they finally understood the problem I was describing they told me it was because I had an ntlworld account which were 'no longer used' and promptly dropped the chat before I had time to reply.

Noticed if this comes up then it's followed by the OOPS. It's different from the normal sign in.
Now they've forced me to set up another non-ntlworld email, I'm still left with this on my laptop. It looks like a serious Ofcom complaint goes in tomorrow.
They offered £9 per month to arrange for 'somebody' to take control of my laptop and sort it.

When talking with Virgin I was asked to make up a password for my new Virgin gmail account and yet I read Virgin should NEVER request a password. And they ask for full memorable word
Virgin Media will never ask for your full password or memorable word in unsolicited communications.
Is it different as I called them?
I've had this "oops" problem for about 10 days on my Chromebook, can't access my account or my emails. But I can access them on my mobile phone (THANKFULLY). Have done things like cleared browsing history. Even had a new VM Hub installed in the meantime due to another problem. Thought maybe because my Chromebook stopped getting automatic updates that was the problem. Tried on a new Chromebook, still get "oops". Got through to a SMS? technician on the VM helpline. They didn't even know what a Chromebook was ("Is this a device" they asked!). They changed my login password and tested it their end and it worked so declared there wasn't a problem with VM. That was it. Still have the problem. Tearing out what little hair I have left.

You really have to be joking about lawyers. Your contract with VM makes no promise about security of emails.
And it's a residential contract, not designed for business. You use it for work at your own risk.
I had this problem (and still get it). TRY REBOOTING YOUR ROUTER. Virgin wanted me to stop using an email address I had for 25 years+ (not an option!) and they could not understand how they could access my emails - with my permission - but I couldn't. I now have to log in with another provider's email address as my username (!) but found out by myself that I could get at the emails on my phone if not on wi-fi so rebooted broadband box and hey presto I got in. Had to do it 2 or 3 times since but always cures the issue. VERY STRANGE!

Hi, thanks for sharing a possible solution - I've rebooted my box a few times, with 5min gaps between - but it's still affecting my one PC.
VM Support - it's now been 2 weeks, any ideas?

What's the authorization.ping? Where is it pinging too? Is it possible to fix this?
Again, it's only one local machine I'm having issues with - it just happens to be a crucial workstation for getting/sending email. I've deleted the cache/cookies and even installed a fresh Firebox - but still getting the error, so thinking it might be a file that VM has placed on this one PC?

Now looks to me like the Virgin people are leaving the OOPS message on the machine after we have changed from Ntlworld - and requesting people pay to have it removed.
Emailing them now and copying in BBC Watchdog etc...
