email issues with VM

i have been going round and round in circles with this one so any help will be appreciated.

we transferred our vm account from my mom to me so we could get a better price on our virgin package. virgin set up the account on the email address that i was already using, i had to have a 3rd party email address for logging in, no problem there. now my moms email stopped working after a few months, she was unable to log in, username or password incorrect, but i can see her emails on my account by adding them to my account. the problem is she wants to see her emails on her computer, but without allowing her access to my email account. i have set up a gmail account for her 3rd party email but i'm not shure how to link her 3rd party  email address to her old email account.

trying to sort this out is becoming a nightmare, help please!

    I would assume as your Mum effectively closed her account, her email would be purged after 90 days?

      i told them at the start that i wanted nothing to change, inc the phone number, and the two email accounts. i spoke to them today and now it turns out that you are only allowed one email account with virgin media per account. so they have only transferred my email account and not hers, yet i can still see her emails on my account. the system wont let me archive her emails and i can't divert them to a third party email account that i have created for her. so the problem is that she cant access her email without using my login details and then she gets access to my email account. 

      i'm loosing the will to live as this is causing a load of arguments between us, we have had our email accounts for over 20 years now

        VM changed the whole email system around 3 years ago.  When you join VM now, for the past 3 years, you don't get any email.  You now have to use a 3rd party email address to access your account, so yes, only one email per account.  The old idea of "sub accounts" is long gone.  Have you tried to logon to My VM with your mum's email address and changing it to a 3rd party one?  At the end of the day, VM are actively purging mailboxes from all the old non paying customers, and also all leavers after 90 days.  Eventually there will be no mailboxes left at some point in time.  My only advice is to transfer your emails to another non ISP supplied mailbox.
