Email down AGAIN this morning!!!

so, no access to email again today. Webmail states :  'Unable to connect to e-mail server. Possible reasons: The e-mail server is (temporarily) down or there are network connection problems. Please try again in a few minutes'.

If I try with Windows mail, I get the 'We couldn't access this account. try again later' 

What;s todays excuse then VM?? Been hacked again have we???

    since yesterday i can't access my virginmedia email address. my ntlworld address is working fine.

      Sorry to hear about these issues with your Virgin Media email address. Can we just check a few things to help us best identify where the issue may be and offer further support;

      1) Are you trying to access the account via our webmail service 👉 https://virg.in/webmail

      2) What happens when you try to access? Are you getting an error code or message of any kind?

        it says " 

        Your Virgin Media Mail account is currently unavailable


        This is either because your Virgin Media Mail account is locked, or because you don’t have an active account with us anymore.

        If you have an existing Virgin Media Mail account with us, please follow the steps below, as your account may have been locked as a security precaution.

         

        Follow these steps unlock your Virgin Media Mail account

         

        Step 1.
        Go to My Virgin Media : to create a new password for your My Virgin Media account. We need you to create a new password for this account as there may have been a security breach.

        • Select Sign In
        • Select Forgotten your email or password? under the password box
        • Follow the instructions to change your password

         

        Step 2.
        Next, we need you to generate a new password to be used specifically for signing in to third-party mailbox apps (like Outlook or Gmail) to access your Virgin Media Mail emails. Even if you don’t use these apps to access your emails now, we still need you to reset the password anyway to fully secure your account.

        1. Sign In to My Virgin Media
          a. Go to Account settings, then Account details
          b. Tap Manage next to Manage your Virgin Media Mail app password under Virgin Media Mail
          c. Then, under Virgin Media Mail app password tap Get password
        2. Continue the flow and a new secure password will be generated for you
        3. Update any third-party apps that you use to access your Virgin Media Mail emails with this new app password

         

        Please note that as this password is separate from your sign in details for My Virgin Media (or any Virgin Media apps) this won’t affect your My Virgin Media password. So, if you check your Virgin Media Mail emails through My Virgin Media or at mail.virginmedia.com, you'll still only need your My Virgin Media password."

        but the problem is i don't have the option "Manage your Virgin Media Mail app password" in account details

    Mines got forbidden on it again.  My email app was hacked in China about 6 years ago and VM didn't do a thing. I only have webmail until yesterday.  Looks like nobody is bothered

      Sorry to hear you are having some issues with your email! We appreciate these kinds of issues can be frustrating. You've mentioned two different issues here so let's look at them individually. 

      1) Your email access. Can we just check what kind of device and browser the 'forbidden' error is appearing on? Does this happen if you try an alternative device or browser? 

      Have you tried accessing the service through the My VM app 👉 virg.in/myVM and then the webmail link within there? (If so, does the issue happen via this route too?) 

      2) Your 3rd party email app setup. You need to have a 3rd party app password generated in order to view your email via these services. You can read more about how to get one of these generated and set up here 👉 https://www.virginmedia.com/help/broadband/manage-email-account . (Head to the section titled 'How to set up my Virgin Media email on a device' and then 'Setting your app password to use an Email app.')

    Same , mine worked this morning , now I find out my webmail account has been locked. It was locked about 2 weeks ago and took a 55 minute phone call to sort it out. I haven't got time for this. As you say they must have been hacked yet again

      From checking our service there doesn't seem to be anything relating to the prior issue, are you still currently locked out?

      There was a change to the terms and conditions a month or 2 ago that gave you the option to cancel your contract without penalty. But it expired on the 23rd October (from memory)
