So for years we have been used to using or Virgin Media email address as a user name to log into our Virgin Media Accounts including Virgin Media Mobile although it now seems that in order to access our Mobile Accounts following the move to O2 a "Virgin Media O2 ID" is required and in order to establish this a third party email address is required and this will then be used as the user name going forward.
What a palaver.

KESOWL The message is not asking you to change the email address itself just the username you use to sign in to the account. VM require this to be a third party email address that you have with another email provider. You must follow the instructions in order to be able to change the password for the VM email account.

Yes and the username happens to be the email address as I suspect it is for most (if not all) Virgin Media users, hence the instruction to "Change email address", however on following the instructions (see attached) and upon selecting EDIT I am returned to the screen suggesting that in order to verify my identity I need to "Change my email address" ?

That's odd as when you click on Edit next to the email address it should come up with a screen to enter the new third party email address and then confirm it.
I have just checked the steps for my account and the correct screen appears.
So if the edit button next to the email address field is pushing back to the previous screen then the VM Forum Team will need to have a look at your account to what is causing the issue.

Well I have done this but...you can never go back...which leaves me thinking...are VM wanting to quit doing Email? because why else can't you use your Email from VM after you do this as a login...

I also have this problem and are stuck in a loop of trying to get a verification email as it says I have already asked to change it and need to click the link. I have never received a link and there is no option of resending it.
If you manage to get a call centre to fix this please at least let us know it is possible as so far the call centres and chat have been unable to help
