Email access issues - blacklisted IP address

Hello,

I access my virgin (blueyonder address) email on multiple devices. Mainly Ipads/ iphone and desktop using Outlook.

Access via 5g and webmail is fine.

Access via wifi on all devices is a real headache. I get the following error screen.

“The email server imap.virginmedia.com is not responding. Verify you have entered correct info.

Server code “ ALERT” server message “Temporarily blacklisted IP address - try again later”

I have rebooted the hub to recircle the IP address but that does not appear to work.

i would really appreciate some help please.

No it won’t. VM IP addresses are dynamically allocated but there is no way that VM customers can change their IP address themselves.

The best way to get that block removed is to  use Virgin Media’s Netreport facility to request the IP be de-listed. If you want to give that a try:

    Go to https://netreport.virginmedia.com/netreport/ and:

    • select an "abuse type" of Email Sending Errors from the drop down list
    • select an "abuse form "of "Other" from drop down list
    • paste the complete error message plus your VM IP address into the Log Evidence area
    • enter your name into "My name" field
    • enter your email address into "Email address" field
    • hit the Submit button

Access via 5g and webmail is fine

    Yes, that’s to be expected:

    1)  Sending via 5g means that you are sending from an IP address allocated by your mobile provider rather than your VM IP address so it’s not affected by VM’s block on your own IP.

    2)  VM’s IP  blocking only applies to emails sent using an email app or client, such as Outlook or a Mail app on a mobile device. VM do not apply that block to emails sent using their Webmail service.

So until the IP block is lifted those are your 2 workarounds.
