Delete Blueyonder alias

Trying to get rid of my old blueyonder email aliases through MyVirginMedia under Manage App Passwords on my main account page. Can someone from IT help with this?

    Sorry to be pedantic but if these really are Blueyonder "ALIASES" then they cannot be deleted.

    The reason is that BY aliases are not (and never have been) separate accounts in their own right. They are simply alternative addresses for your Blueyonder ACCOUNT.   So an email sent to a BY alias also appears in the inbox of the main Blueyonder account.

    They were a feature of Telewest's Blueyonder email system that VM did not replicate in their own email service but existing BY aliases continue to work as intended.

    One of the Forum Team (VM staff)  will contact you via this thread and should be able to advise, Bear in mind though they may not be familiar with the distinction between a BY alias and a BY account.

      Welcome back to the Community, and thanks for taking the time to post. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your email account. As coenoby advised, we wouldn't be able to delete any aliases without deleting the main mailbox that they're attached to. Are they aliases or email addresses in their own right?

  • Hi, Same issue with mine. I have 3 secondary alias blueyonder accounts that need deletion and leaving just the main blueyonder one.

      hamtrektng​  Before this can be taken further you need to answer the questions already asked.  Are the email addresses you are looking to delete aliases of the main blueyonder account or additional email addresses that you setup back in the Telewest days?

      You can see if they are true aliases by logging into the main account in VM webmail and clicking on the cog to access settings.  Under Accounts e-mail you should see the main email address and the alias addresses in red.  If you only see the main address they the others are not aliases but additional accounts.

    I have had a quick peek at the Accounts section in my primary webmail and can see all my blueyonder addresses in red including the main address. All that needs to be deleted is the alias ones, keeping the main one intact.

      Thanks for confirming that they are aliases.  As mentioned in the original reply unfortunately they cannot be deleted without deleting the main account.  The parent email and aliases all use the same mailbox.
