Closed Virgin Email Accounts

Now that my Virgin email account has recently been closed after over 25 years it seems that anyone sending a Virgin email to me now does not get an error message to say that the email address no longer exists! The sender just thinks they are being ghosted! PLEASE Virgin Media correct this problem as soon as possible to bounce back emails sent to your Virgin email closed accounts. Don’t we all at least deserve this service after being such loyal customers for so many years?

I recently tried sending an email to a Virgin email address account that closed a couple of years ago and have not received an error message regarding non-delivery! Virgin Media you must program non-delivery messages into your email system out of respect for all those many years of loyalty from all us Virgin Email clients.

It is possible that your mailbox was not fully deleted a couple of years ago and still exists in some sort of twilight/locked condition if you are not getting undeliverable messages.

The fact that VM has not completely deleted some orphaned mailboxes in the past is, in part, why VM is in this current mess of now deleting lots of mailboxes which are not linked to an active VM broadband subscription.

Thanks Goslow. How can I get Virgin Media to provide Non-Delivery messages to any new emails sent to my closed Virgin.net account?

Once your mailbox is fully deleted, emails to your legacy mailbox should start causing undeliverable messages.

If that doesn't happen, a VM forum team person should reply here in a few days and should be able to ensure your legacy mailboxes are fully deleted.

Err, well not necessarily, depends on how the MTA has been configured.

A bit like ‘Ravenstar68’, I do know what I am talking about!

For those that don’t know. A Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) is an email server software that receives and relays emails. An MTA receives messages from another MTA or from a Mail User Agent (MUA), which is a computer application that end users use to access or send emails.

My question continues. How do I contact the person responsible to make any Virgin.net emails sent to my closed account show “Message not delivered” ?

It's certain you know more than I do so I can only add

"... should start causing undeliverable messages, which was what happened when I deleted my own VM email addresses."
