Hi lorrainemoreno,
Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐
We're sorry to hear you're having issues with loading your emails via your Android device. You'll need to generate an app password. Please log in to My Virgin Media here > Click on Account settings > Virgin Media Mail settings > scroll down to the App password section and click the Generate new App password button.
You should get a pop up message asking you to verify yourself. You'll be sent a one time passcode to your Gmail email address, to enter on the next page to verify it's you. Once verified you'll then be given an app password which will look something similar to: mail-horse-yellow-panda and you should note this down.
To get things working on an email client or app again, you will need to enter the new mail password in the settings. This will allow your emails to load again. In some cases, you may need to remove the email account from the mail client or app completely and re-set it up as fresh. If this is the case for you, please ensure you use your VM email address as the username and the newly generated app password.
These changes have been put in place as Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is now required. Just as a side note, when logging in to My VM, you will need to use the third party email address as the username and your original My VM password.
Please let me know how you get on and apologies for the inconvenience.
Thanks,

This does not work. There is not a generate new app password button in the password section. I am simply trying to log into my virginmedia email account on an android phone. I can log into all my other accounts - @ntlworld and gmail - no problem. Why can I not access my virginmedia email?
I am getting very frustrated with this as there is nothing on the website that gives you any clue as to what to do. I pay a considerable amount of money each month for my email accounts - how to I get to use them on my phone?

Amie. The system has changed since the date of this old thread that you have posted in.
If you are using an email app or client to access your emails you are likely to need an app password, especially if you changed your password when signing into the VMO2 ID.
To create an email app password or update an existing one you need to follow these steps:
Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
Select Account Settings
Select Identity & Security Settings
Select Manage your products
Select Manage email app password
Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'Make a note of the generated password. This is what you use in the mail apps along with the vm email address as the username.

Just to confirm when using the Android mail client that you are using your virginmedia.com email address as the user and the four word generated app password?
It's in the form word-word-word-word
