Can't log in to secondary email account via webmail since being made to create a new Virgin Media O2 ID
Can't log in to secondary email account via webmail since being made to create a new Virgin Media O2 ID. Can't create an app password for the secondary account.
I am having the exact same problems as TrafficLights7. It has been suggested that I create my own post. John_GS from the Forum Team was able to help TrafficLights 7 through PM. Please can someone do this for me.
Credit to TrafficLights7. I will copy their question below question below as they summarise my exact same problem so well.
TrafficLights7: "I have a blueyonder email address and want to set it up on my new phone on the Outlook app. I cannot see a way of accessing the app password with the new O2 sign in system. My account is a secondary account - my father is the main account holder.
I can log into "my virgin media" on my laptop. I click account settings, then virgin media mail settings. This takes me through to my Virgin Media O2 ID settings. When I click manage linked accounts, there is no option to change my app password, instead, it only says "add your virgin media account". If I go through this process, it attempts to transfer the main account to me, rather than adding my secondary account. If we log into the main account, it only lets you change the app password of the main email address, rather than any of the secondary email addresses."
Hello Using Blueyonder
Sorry to hear of the email access issues since the recent changes to login details, we understand the frustration and appreciate you raising this via the forums.
At Virgin Media O2 we’re on a journey to become one company, and right now we’re changing the way our customers manage their Virgin Media and O2 accounts online.
The first step is to help our customers create a set of sign in details that we’ve called a Virgin Media O2 ID. To set up your Virgin Media O2 ID, you’ll simply use your email address and then choose which authentication method you’d like to use to sign in (like a password or passkey). From there you’ll use this single set of credentials to sign in to any Virgin Media and O2 online spaces, instead of separate Virgin Media log in and O2 log in details.
You can also register for a Virgin Media O2 ID even if you’re not with Virgin Media or O2. Secondary accounts used to appear in a dropdown alongside the main account accessed via main login. It now seems if you use the specific secondary email address at first login you can set up the verification, backup email and new O2 linked password.
