Can’t get email on home WiFi

Finally resolved the 2FA login / password issues whilst at work with help from here.  Got it working on the mail client on iPhone on both my @ntlworld.com (primary) and @virginmedia.com (secondary) accounts.

Sending and receiving mail no problem using WiFi in work and over 5G, but soon as I got home and connected to the home WiFi, presented with the below error message.  The wife has the same issue too (she hasn’t changed any passwords) and her email works fine over 5G too.

Any ideas or is this a call to Virgin to resolve?

Why would IP address be blacklisted and will it likely resolve itself given it states “temporarily”

Any help appreciated.

Before you try contacting VM I would suggest that do the following:

    1) Check the status of your VM IP address on spamhaus  by following these simply steps:

Your IP address will almost certainly be listed on the PBL (Policy Block List) but that is to be expected and is NOT the reason you cannot send emails from your  email client.

    2) If it is listed on any other blocklist such as Spamhaus' Exploits Block List (XBL) for example then that suggests there is a security issues such as malware on one of your devices. So you will need to perform virus and security scans using your choice of appropriate security software.

    3) If the issue remains after performing the necessary checks on your devices go to VM's reporting tool at https://netreport.virginmedia.com/netreport/ and:

    • select an abuse type of Email Sending Errors from drop down list
    • select an abuse form of Other from drop down list
    • paste the complete error message into the Log Evidence area and explain what steps you have taken to ensure there is no malware on your devices
    • enter your name into My name field

That report will go direct to the relevant team in VM.

In the mean time your workarounds to send VM emails are:

    • sending using yor 5G mobile network
    • sending using a VPN
    • sending  using the VM webmail service rather than an email app or client.
