Another problem with the email

I have a "primary" e-mail account which is an ntlworld address - although as of about a year or so ago, forced by the tech guy to log in using a different e-mail address for the Username (I use a Gmail one).

I have 3 other e-mail addresses on this account, 2 of which are mine, one is the wife's

Previously, to access our webmail, we logged in using our individual Username / Password and got to see our own e-mail boxes.  I with my primary account and the wife with her account had set up our individual Android mobiles to access these.

Recently, when trying to log in, I was directed to create a new "O2 / Virgin" login.  It was a painful and overly complicated process, but I got there in the end, and I can now successfully log in as before and see my e-mails. But I lost access to my mobile. When I tried to point the mobile to my "new" login the Android refused to accept it

Then when I tried the secondary accounts to see the emails I was met by the same screen telling me to create a new "O2 / Virgin" login.  I did my 2 but left hers as she could still access  them through her mobile. The downside was the convoluted sign on process as I had to fire up my Gmail to receive the email from Virgin click on the "verify identity" button then switch back to Virgin. In the interim I discovered that the primary and 1 secondary had a valid password so I could cut that part of the process out. No such luck with the 3rd secondary, but this week the link to Gmail seems to have disappeared, so I cannot use it for that purpose. I will not touch the wife's account until I get a cast iron guarantee t will work. She now has no access from the pc only her mobile.

  • Hi bobspicer,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

We're sorry to hear you're having issues with viewing emails via your mobile. In order to view emails on a client or app, you would need to generate an app password. This will allow you to access the VM emails. You can do this following these instructions: Please log in to My Virgin Media here > Click on Account settings > Identity & Security Settings > Select Manage your products > Select Manage email app password > Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'. In the settings of your app or client, you'll need to enter the VM email address as the username and the new app password.

If you intend on accessing any secondary accounts, each one will need their own VM O2 ID. They'll also have their own unique app password which you'll need to generate.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

    Many thanks,

      Thanks for the reply.

I now have access via my mobile to my primary emails, but the problem with the secondary addresses still exist. One has a password so I can access it but the other does not so I can't. But all 3 offer to try another way which purports to send an email to my gmail account which, since the beginning of this week, does not arrive. Have you any thoughts on this please ?
