Accessing secondary email forgotten password

Dear Virginmedia,

I'm trying to set up an email account using one of the secondary @ntlworld.com email address, unfortunately I can't remember the password.

I believe that each secondary email account needs its own MyVirginmedia account but I can't seem to register the secondary email account for it's own MyVirginmedia.

I used to be able to manage all the secondary email accounts but can't seem to locate the correct page to do this.

This is all very confusing, can anyone help?

Regards

"each secondary email account needs its own MyVirginmedia account but I can't seem to register the secondary email account for it's own MyVirginmedia."

There's no need for you to do that, it will already exist because every secondary email account automatically has its own MVM account.

" I used to be able to manage all the secondary email accounts but can't seem to locate the correct page to do this."

VM removed that option a long time ago. They also removed the option to create new VM email accounts.

To reset the password for a secondary email account the process requires you to know its existing password so you are stymied there if you don't know the existing password.

You could try the "Forgotten password" option here https://www.virginmedia.com/identity/forgotten-details/password but sadly I think you will find that will not work for you either.

It's not clear from your previous posts whether you are still a paying VM customer, but if you are, you can wait for one of the Forum Team staff members to contact you via this forum thread. They are best placed to help you get the password reset.

If you are no longer a paying VM customer then you will soon lose access to this secondary account and any other VM email accounts.  VM are deleting all VM email accounts that are no longer linked to a live VM broadband account.  You only get 90 days from the time the MVM account closes before any linked email accounts are due for closure.

Just for future reference, the process for resetting a VM secondary email account password is as follows:

    • sign into the "My Virgin Media" account for the secondary Ntlworld email account. Enter its Ntlworld email address here https://www.virginmedia.com/my-virgin-media   and then enter its current password when prompted.
    • Then click on the "Account settings" tab, then the "Account details" tab. Then scroll down the Account Details page to the SIgn In details section
    •  you will see "Password"  and you need to click on "Edit" on the right had side and follow the instructions,

Unfortunately, VM now insists that you have to use a non VM email address as the Username to access your VM email account so you will then be taken through that process. Once you have specified the non VM email account to use to sign into your Ntlworld address, VM will then send a verification email to that non VM account.

If you are accessing the account via an email app or client (rather then via the VM webmail account) you will also need to generate a Mail app password for that account in the MVM account but the prompts should take you through that.  You will then to specify that Mail app password in the settings of any email app or client that you use.

      Hi Coenoby,

Thanks for the reply. After about 2hrs of chasing my tail I gave up, then tried it a few hours later and managed to get it to work. Not sure exactly how, I did generate a new password via the app but initially it didn't work, only to work sometime later.

Anyway it worked, thanks for the advice.
