What's happening to this forum?

What is happening to this forum?
I tried to post on another section found it hard to find where to post, when I did couldn't find how to start a new post. Then when I did It wouldn't let me publish it say something about a link when there wasn't any link.
It's has if they don't want to use away with this forum.

<<< this you must have spotted as the way to start a new thread.

The HTML type of error I believe you refer to I find can be triggered when content from a web page is Select / Copy / Paste into the forum.   To get past this I've pasted the text into Notepad and then re-copied it for posting in this forum.

I was trying to post a screenshot from my PC and using the camera icon and selecting from computer.

  • I have exactly the same problem (Sept 28, 2025). I haven't logged in to the forums for several years, but logged in now with a query, but I cannot see any button to start a new discussion. There is nothing but a list of the latest threads, which I can see if I want, but I have no way to create a new thread. Can anyone help? The live chat with VM staff is totally useless.

  • Go to the specific forum you want to start a discussion in rather than just the overall list of latest threads. Pick the forum from the menu at the top.

Do you see the start thread button then?

No 'New Post' option being available any longer now means no one can raise new issues or ask for help without apparently searching for a topic then jumping into someone else's previous post.

The community has become close to pointless considering many may need help with something completely unrelated to any previous topics. But now you have to reply to an existing post (if you're lucky enough to find one related to your needs) which means the majority of the community isn't going to see the request & therefor not be able to advise or help if able to. Also now only a handful of folk will see your request who all either have the same unsolved issue so are unable to assist anyway or are having an issue that's not relevant!!!

Also what's with all the 'I've PM'd you' nonsense I'm seeing everywhere to requests for help & advice when they NEVER return to the post to supply the resolution, or at the very least advise that it's still not resolved so ongoing, seriously what the hells wrong with folk? Pathetic.

The whole idea of this forum was to allow Virgin customers the ability to ask for & receive help & advice, not to limit & restrict which is all it's now doing.

I can see plenty of results for my issue but not a single one has a solution, the newest is at least 2 weeks old since the last response which is again from someone still stuck, & worse if a solution does finally get found it's not even posted as a 'Sticky' or on any kind of sensible homepage, WHILST STILL NO ONE CAN ASK ANEW IF IT'S BEEN RESOLVED.

Definitely taken a huge step backwards, just like Virgin as a whole especially since the clowns backside of a mess they've made of wiping out account access for so many with the merging of the virgin/O2 sign in joke.

PLEASE. Return the ability of posting a new query, you know the whole point of the forum in the first place. And put up 'Sticky's' with solutions for all to see & search instead of throwing out all manner of unhelpful search results.

czure At the top of each forum section there is a large purple button that says 'Start new Discussion'.

So no need to search for a similar post to add to.

A while back now but used to be able to start a general discussion from the home screen so all the community could see it instead of it being hidden away in another section. Just having a butchers through those sections now though so I can again see the option to start a new discussion ta.

Wanted to ask the entire community if anyone's figured out login failures to Virgin accounts since they linked with O2 accounts, but I'll just have to opt for an option that's as close as possible to post it in.

Plenty of requests about the issue already floating around with most recent being around 2 weeks ago but still with no resolution shown, some login posts are from before the O2 sign in merger so due to unconnected reasons.

All seems a bit weird to me though as when I first ran into it about 4 weeks back it was because it wouldn't link my virgin & o2 account (previously had both separate accounts working perfectly). So I tried on my Android mobile via same browser (Chrome) & it all worked just fine, I was then able to access it on my laptop but since then it just fails the login again with same error message whilst still working fine on my mobile.

Would've began thinking it was a Windows thing after trying every possible method of a fix on laptop but I'm seeing it failing for users of all different devices & OS.

Your views on the ever-decreasing usefulness of the forum are on target.

If I go to the main page for this 'Community Natter' forum

Community Natter | Virgin Media Community

I see the 'Start a discussion' purple button at the top of the forum page under the search box (I am using a web browser on a PC).

If you are on a mobile device, the menu options might dump you to this page, for example

Category: Chatter and natter | Virgin Media Community

where you have to enter one of the forums to see the purple 'Start a discussion' button

It's been flushed down the bog like Virgins customer service. Pretty much a pointless community now that no one can even ask for help & no solutions are posted in a 'Sticky' section to be searched & browsed through!

If you had actually read this thread then you would have seen that within this thread <this post> shows where to find the "Start a discussion" button is on each forum.

I've also posted a picture on my post in this particular thread post pointing to the icon button to use to create a new thread (discussion)

Each forum has that button, and it does help to post in the dedicated forum for each  subject  -  for example a query about the 360 box should be posted in Virgin_TV_360 forum, and not in the broadband forum.

This particular forum (Chatter forum)  and the Natter forum are both "Off  Topic" forums designed for posts that don't relate to VMO2 and thus are seldom frequented by VM Forum Staff.

Posts relating to "login failures to Virgin accounts" should be made in the Managing Your Account forum board.

If you have a problem accessing your email account(s) then you should create a thread in the email forum board.
