VM has a "Fake Review Policy"

Which got me wondering a few things:

  1. Is it a review policy that is in fact fake?
  2. Is it a fake review policy that is in fact true?
  3. Lastly... just...why?

It is undated but seems fairly new

https://www.virginmedia.com/dynamo/legal/fake-review-policy

It initially flashes a 404 error on loading regardless of the browser used which sort of doubles down on the fakery side of things.

In addition the main email address given for reporting "inappropriate" reviews (undefined) is actually an O2 domain but we are assured that's it's good for VM reviews too.

Also I initially assumed that it was VM threatening terrible Hell-in-a-handcart sanctions against customers posting bad reviews.

However it seems VM sometimes rewards reviewers with hard cash and "freebies" according to the policy. I have seen this sort of thing on Trustpilot with a number of companies and there is a "verified" tag used for these. However of the thousands of reviews of VM on Trustpilot I could only find 12 verified reviews using the filter. Of these 12 reviews just one is positive.

Has anyone on here been incentivised to review VM? Was it conditional on providing a nice one? What did you get in return? Where is the review?

Posting a positive review on Trustpilot would be like Canute holding back the tide.

A piece of classic VM 'confusion'! I give VM 5 stars for confusion!

It's a really shambolic back of the envelope job isn't it?
