Virgin media to vodafone porting number

Bought pay as you go sim with vodafone on the 19th of April as my contract with virgin media expired on the 21st. Requested to keep my number gave the guy in vodafone store all info required bought €20 top up he said he will activate it in store, gave me sim card said once your phone stops making, receiving calls etc change sim. Flash forward to now the 23rd and my phone still has not ported over!! Call 1907 vodafone customer care sorry we do not have your number on file, call 1908 virgin media sorry we do not have your number on file!! So now I have to pay an extra month to virgin media as I did not meet the deadline (no fault of my own) and I will probably end up losing 3/4 days of the vodafone top up only plan as the guy in store probably activated already!! No real question here but any input or similar experience gratefully accepted!!! Just needed to vent ;D

    Did you request your PAC code from VM prior to doing any of this?

      It's possible this was a UK number so the porting would fail as the OP is in Ireland.

      Rather than taking a couple of hours it may also be that the porting process is taking longer because the request was placed over the weekend.
