Same address, different name on 'new' account

Hi. I've been with Virgin for many years, fed up with price rises etc. Seen there are better packages for new customers for less money. Retentions won't give me those deals....  So, two questions. First, could my wife get a new contract ? different email address, bank account but same address as me ?  If so, how could we keep our landline number ?  Thanks.

  • In theory yes, your wife could sign up, but, no, it is vanishingly unlikely that you could keep the same landline number.

It works like this; you cancel, you give your 30 days notice and VM accepts it. They require you to return the equipment, which is fine. Your wife signs up as a new customer, nothing to do with you, an and gets the new customer deals. Now here’s the important bit, ‘nothing to do with you’, yes they are a new customer but why would VM entertain giving her the same number, from, apparently a complete stranger?

However, you can move you phone number to a VoIP supplier, and use it with any ISP regardless.  You can even use that landline number on a mobile phone as well.  If doing this, it will need to be done prior to leaving VM.
