Forum rules submission

Not sure about social forums rules?

To ensure a positive and productive online forum experience, generally, participants should treat each other with respect, stay on topic, avoid using all capital letters (which is considered shouting), and respect the moderators and their decisions.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of common forum rules:

General Etiquette and Behavior:

Respect: Treat other participants with courtesy and respect, even if you disagree with their opinions.
Constructiveness: Contribute constructively to discussions, focusing on the topic at hand and avoiding personal attacks or insults.

Stay on Topic: Keep discussions relevant to the forum's purpose and avoid off-topic tangents.

Avoid All Caps: Refrain from using all capital letters, as this is often perceived as shouting and can be disruptive.

Report Inappropriate Behavior: If you encounter harassment, bullying, or other inappropriate behavior, report it to the moderators.

Don't be a "Troll": Avoid intentionally inciting annoyance or offense.

Don't Bully, Harass, or Threaten: Refrain from any form of bullying, harassment, or threats towards other participants.

Don't Post Duplicate Content: Avoid posting the same content in multiple threads.

Respect Moderators: Follow the guidelines set by the moderators and respect their decisions.

Keep it Civil: Maintain a civil tone and avoid personal insults or attacks.

Don't Break the Law: Ensure your posts and activities comply with all applicable laws.

Don't post or link to any inappropriate, offensive or illegal material.

Don''t spam the board.

That's going back to Dec 2024 and Archived.  Not in the latest version of the forum.

        Correct. That was the intention.

The web archive calendar offered a snapshot on 15 Jan 2025 (the day before the last forum change) but that link returned the Dec 2024 snapshot linked.

When the forum switched, there were two help links, one for general VM help and one for forum help. But the forum help link (which may possibly have been under the profile options) was nothing more than a generic Khoros template (and non-specific to VM).

So the link provided was the last set of forum rules that made any sense in regard to the VM forum (the version before this one).

Since then, the forum help has gone altogether so there are no specific rules, guidelines or anything else. I noticed this when an OP was asking how to identify genuine VM staff and I was going to post a link to the old forum help (but it had gone!).

The current forum format has become little more than a helpdesk ticketing system so maybe forum rules are no longer necessary since, for many, interactions on here will be be a one-off exercise to ask a question and get an answer.
