Does anyone know who Blix Solutions are?

I have just restarted my router and my external IP has changed.

When looking up the IP using Whois, it says it relates to Blix Solutions?  Who are Blix Solutions and what relevance do they have to Virgin Media and my external IP address?  They seem to be based in Normay, though another site suggests Estomia.

Blix Solutions appears to be a company that provides IP address management and related services. Based on the RIPE Database information, they have a presence in London, UK, and their administrative address is listed in Oslo, Norway. It's possible that Virgin Media has acquired or leased a range of IP addresses from Blix Solutions for their network.

Your external IP address changing after restarting your router is normal behavior, especially if your ISP uses dynamic IP allocation. If the IP address now points to Blix Solutions, it could be part of Virgin Media's arrangement with them.

Thanks @buffer6.  However, I have not restarted my router and the IP address has gone back to it's previous static dynamic IP.

  • Very odd.  The IP address assigned has now reverted back to the previous IP address...

Are there any Virgin engineers on this forum who could shed any light on this otherwise there might have been a security breach somewhere.

Are you using a VPN (perhaps unknowingly, since all kinds of browsers and security software have their own VPNs these days)? Blix Solutions appears to be used by various VPN providers.

Can't be a  security breach as your WAN IP address is from VM's DHCP server, so very difficult to change - and doing so would be counterproductive as internet access would be lost.
