Cancellation fee on switching provider

I’ve been looking at new providers as I’m due to come out of contract on the 25th March, I’ve decided to go for Zen and when applying for my providers to switch on this day, I received an email from virgin media saying if I decided to switch I would be charged a cancellation fee+ remaining contract price.

Would this leaving fee still be applicable if I was to book my switch today for the 25th March or do I have to switch in my final 30 days to not be charged a cancellation fee?

The early termination fee shouldn't be applicable providing the switchover does occur on the preferred switching date.

If wanting to use the OTS then you need to tell the new provider (Zen) of your preferred switching date.  They would then send the request to VM showing that is the preferred date of the switch, and fingers crossed all should go as planned

However things can go wrong as shown by totsco themselves.

According to https://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/10529-half-a-million-switches-so-far-using-one-touch-switching there have been half a million switches since the OTS was introduced and there have been a large number of failed matches.
