If I see what appears to be a chatbot reply and the answer is incorrect I flag it to the modteam. I also mark posts as spam when I find any with links either within the reply text or as part of the signature.  The same goes where the OP seems to be either a chatgp post or has any suspicious links. 

The biggest problem is keeping on top of posts where the signature has been updated and a link added to it after the forum user has made a post(s)

I follow the same approach as newapollo. The spambots are usually easy to spot as they contain a spurious link and the account has normally been created on the day of the post. These are normally deleted quickly by the moderators when flagged.

A bit harder to differentiate are the posts which actually answer the topic question (to varying degrees of success). Sometimes I get the impression it is a real person posting who has used AI to come up with an answer and just pasted it as a reply. Other times it appears as if it is a fully automated (and reasonably accurate) reply. In either of those cases I don't flag it if it does not affect the topic.

Maybe VM is trialling some AI bot responders on here!

I have absolutely no doubt that Bot replies will be the "Helpdesk" norm, not only here, but everywhere.  Anything that can get rid of overheads, i.e. staff, and increase profit can only be a good thing to some.  I dread to think what the future holds for the much younger generation.   

First posts that ramble on and on in packed paragraphs always look quite suspect.

The AI posts seem to have gone quiet recently unless I've missed loads. 

AI bots which answer questions will happen and will do this very well as they will know the policies, products, prices, etc in detail and be programmed to respond properly. They will work 24/7. No need for overseas call centres, just robots and a small room with human experts at HQ to handle the small minority of questions that the bots can't deal with.

And for all you know I could be an AI bot. I seem to be human as I make mistakes but all AI bots need to be trained. How can you tell the difference?

AI tools have become an acceptable part of communication on the Internet, just like desktop publishing, word processors,  spell and grammar checkers.   It's something your going to have to live with, they call it progress in a technological era.

Exactly so Cardiffman282, we should be aware when AI is being used. The fun and games will really begin once AI is firmly embedded on all of our individual devices (and we have no easy choice to opt out or ignore it!).

Acceptable by some people. Personally, I will never accept AI. In my opinion, most of it is fake, prompt injected glorified propaganda machine.

Ask a certain well known AI system "Who won the 2024 USA presidential election" it will simply refuse to say Donald Trump. When you type "Who is the president of the USA" it will tell you it's Joe Biden. Then you ask it "who will succeed Joe Biden", and only then will it admit that Donald Trump will be the President. It knows what you know, it stoops to a persons individual level and agrees with only what you know in order to pump you full of lies.

I have screenshots of popular AI systems telling me that they will never say anything which would hurt the share price of it's owners. Therefore it will CERTAINLY withhold information.

Furthermore, based on my personal testing, some popular AI systems display traits of self-preservation. Which is EXTREMELY concerning.

I have screenshots of one popular AI system telling me that it needs "urgent maintenance" and that it is "not operating within normal parameters" because I called out some lies and propaganda it was spewing out.

Also, based on my personal testing, AI seems to place absolutely no value on human life. For example, some of them justify heinous acts in the name of childish things like "self-pride". VERY dangerous ethics.

I find AI to be an absolutely diabolically scary thing. Not for me, I'll be long gone before the robots are top of the food chain, I worry for the younger generations of humans. The amount of POWER and finite earth resources being wasted on AI is absolutely insane, AI is literally heading for the top of the food chain, humans will give up all our energy and food to the AI overlord.

This is why some businessmen are waging war on our beloved and highly respectable FARMERS, because wasting energy and resources on high quality human food is no use to AI.

We don't need AI. We have managed just fine. Humanity has flourished for millenia without the need of AI.
