WiFi pod taking out WiFi!

Hi All

I’ve had a WiFi pod for around 6 months to help boost signal in several rooms and in the last few weeks, it seems to be interrupting the WiFi signal from my hub and doing the exact opposite to what it’s meant to do!

Done the usual resetting etc and have turned it off for a week as the constant wifi interruption was annoying. I’ve turned the pod on again tonight and within 10 mins, my WiFi was down.

New pod needed? Is this a known, ironic quirk of these pods? Any advice appreciated!

Thx

Turn the VM Pod off, at the location of the VM Pod perform a Wi-Fi speed test with your mobile or laptop, if the result is not decent the VM Pod is located too far from the VM Hub to work correctly and is at risk of creating an area with strong Wi-Fi signals but with little or zero usable bandwidth.  Kind of what you describe.

Hi thank you for your advice. I’ve performed a speed test in the rooms where we get WiFi and without the pod on, they are decent. The issue we have is for the rooms that need the extra boost, if we turn the pod on, it takes out the WiFi.

Super, you have not tested if the position of the VM Pod has a good signal from VM Hub.
Also check if the VM Pod's lights indicate it is paired to the VM Hub.

Sometimes folks modify the Wi-Fi via the VM Hub menu to make it easier to connect a CCTV camera or an IoT, this can & often will stop the VM Pods from working.

VM Hub settings required for VM Pods

        1. The Hub is in 'Router Mode'
        2. Wireless Channel Optimisation is Enabled
        3. The 2.4 & 5 GHz bands have the same SSID
        4. SSID broadcast is Enabled on both bands
        5. Both SSID are protected with the same password.
        6. Auto Channels are Enabled on both bands
        7. The VM Hub’s DHCP server is Enabled
        8. Only VM can supply and pair VM Pods to a VM Hub
        9. VM will need to re-pair VM Pods manually if a replacement Hub is supplied
