Wi-Fi Pods
Thought I would share my recent experience with you and ask if anyone has recently received a BLACK Wi-Fi pod because I have got to the point where I am struggling to believe what Virgin Media says.
- Swapped over to a volt package, new router installed.
- Poor coverage in house so downloaded VM Connect App
- Several failed attempts at home scan as Wi-Fi completely dropping out.
- Eventually VM Connect suggests Wi-Fi pod – but leads to dead end re ordering (thought you would be able to do this through app).
As far as I can see there are two options; BLACK – like a small router with mains lead. WHITE: oversized plug, goes straight into socket, can’t be used with extension leads. Most of our sockets are behind furniture so a pod with a lead is the best option for us. Package we are on allows for up to three pods free of charge.
- 20 min phone call with VM – “supervisor will ring you back within 48hrs” – never received call.
- 20 min live chat with VM – requested black one, received Service Change Receipt – WHITE one ordered and being charged for it!
- 40 min live chat with VM – assured bill hadn’t increased and would be getting a BLACK pod, received Service Change Receipt – WHITE one ordered and being charged for it!
- 20 min phone call - assured bill hadn’t increased and would be getting a BLACK pod.
Arrived yesterday. Yep you guessed it its WHITE!
- 20 min phone call – initially unaware of different models but eventually told me BLACK pods were discontinued.
On the VM website they refer to the BLACK pods as “Our NEW mesh Wi-Fi Pods” and the WHITE pods as “Our mesh Wi-Fi Pods”.
The website also mentions a Wi-Fi booster which is no longer available to customers so I am unsure as to whether this was what the person was talking about?
