VPN Router

Hi,

I recently set up my virgin media box as a modem. I connected my own Gl iNet router, configured with a UK Wireguard VPN server from Mullvad. I was planning to connect my TV straight to my modem via ethernet as opposed to the router, but I can't seem to get the TV connected to the internet this way. If I run the TV via Ethernet from my new router, some streaming services do not work.

Can anyone advise? Cheers

This is as one would expect. in modem mode a VM Hub does operate on only 1 network port.
Genuine TV services should not be accessed from behind a VPN.

I guess the real question is why run the VPN on the Gl iNet router, you must have a very good reason for this such as you are installing a home office that is linked to a central office. Perhaps the Gl iNet router can surface the VPN on just one of its ports and leave all the rest to be via a VM Public IP connection.
