Using my own DHCP Server rather than Virgin Modem

I have seen the option in the modem/router (hub) settings to use only as a modem so I can use my own PFSense firewall and router. That bit I understand but if I do that will my Virgin TV Box and home phone still need to be connected to my Virgin modem (hub) and if so will they still work ok, or will they need to be connected to my new router.

I have the Hub 5 with 1Gig download speeds.

Any guidance will be gladly received.

The telephone remains connected to the VM Hub TEL 1 socket, use of Router / Modem mode does not affect the provision of the phone service on a domestic VM Hub.

In Modem mode internet devices would then be re-connected to the network ports or Wi-Fi of your 3rd party Router or your Wi-Fi APs.

The other thing to note is that the VM TV boxes work on an internal intranet type system. They therefore must use the Virgin DNS servers, & will not work through a VPN.

I have a V6 and I certainly do NOT use the VM DNS servers. All my DNS queries go to either of two Pi-Hole servers and then via the cloudflared module using TLS. The only thing that is needed is that the V6 must be on the VM network and as I have two ISP connections I use a "Policy-Based route" on my router to ensure all V6 traffic go via VM.

Could the LAN be split via a VLAN and have the TV on this using VM DNS etc. ?  Just curious, I don't use any TV from VM.

Sure that would work or have your DNS server forward given domains the TV uses to VM DNS only

Why would you need to use VM DNS for TV? have they locked it down that badly and why would they need too?
