Upgrade WiFi pods

I currently have the white (plume rebranded) WiFi pods, three in total.

I’ve read that The White VM Pods are Wi-Fi 4 / Wi-Fi 5 ( not Wi-Fi 6 ) which can work with a Hub 5 (which they have for a long time, without problems) however, ultimately affecting speed across the house.

How do I go about replacing my current pods with WiFi 6 compatible pods (the newer, black version)

  • What 3rd party WiFi extenders are people using if not using Virgin WiFi pods?

Both Pods meet the 30Mb Wifi speed guarantee, so that's that I guess ...

What most degrades speed of Wi-Fi is using a Wi-Fi Repeaters ( E.g VM Pods ).

Whatever the input speed at the VM Pod e.g. 150Mbps, the speed in the repeated area will always less than half i.e. < 75Mbps.  This is just as fact of the way half duplex Wi-Fi works with any type of repeaters.

"As I have quite a large house, upgrading the current pods will offer an improvement being that they are WiFi 6."Not necessary so, WiFi 6 and WiFi 6e improvements are really on the 5Ghz and 6Ghz bands which have a limited range. Yes they can give faster speeds, but not at any distance which from your text implies you need them for. VM pods are ‘thick’ devices you cannot modify any of their parameters. It is far far better to invest in proper Wireless Access Points that you can set up to suit your home.

Thanks for the reply. As I have quite a large house, upgrading the current pods will offer an improvement being that they are WiFi 6.

Ideally want to stick to an all Virgin solution, rather than going down the route of third party WiFi pods.

Hey James-28, thank you for reaching out and for your question the white pods act the same as the black pods.

We are also not able to swap / tell you which pod you would get it is done at random.

3 pods is also the limit we can offer, we can also see you've spoke to the team did they manage to help?
